“When you’re playing someone who’s considered to be a villainess, you never think of it that way. You just don’t, you can’t,” Warren said. “So for me, she was just a working woman who had a business, and that business was about manipulating men to get what she needed.”
She got to sing about Chicago, Illinois in the film “Victor/Victoria.”
“I will never forget that,” Warren said. “I’m so grateful and proud impacting people’s lives in the way it seems to have done. I’ll never get over it, that’s all you ever want as an actor, to be identified so strongly with a character you’ve created.”

The actress spoke about what is it about fan events that she really likes.
“Meeting the people. It’s so great, because I can see in their faces up close and personal and see the joy they’re feeling and the excitement,” Warren said. “I’m always so utterly grateful for that response and to be able to share that moment with them is a big deal. Every fan that comes up has a story to tell about one of those roles I played, and how it’s deeply affected them, and their mother and grandmother and child. It’s the gift of what we do and I don’t take it for granted.”
Lesley Ann Warren is hosting the “Clue: The Movie 40th Anniversary Screening” this weekend. Guests with VIP tickets have access to a meet and greet reception with her. It will be held Sunday night at the Studebaker Theater in South Loop.
