Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen instructed his government to send a “senior Palestinian delegation,” headed by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, for talks with UNESCO – aimed at aligning Palestinian educational content with international standards adopted by the organization. According to the PA, the move is intended to advance the development of the Palestinian education system, both structurally and content-wise – while preserving what is called “the essence of Palestinian national consciousness.” This is in accordance with UNESCO requirements and the PA’s international commitments.
