Manchester United are in the market for TWO big midfield signings next summer – and Elliot Anderson is top of the list. United boss Ruben Amorim wants midfield reinforcements as his No1 priority to rebuild his squad with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba the other big deal in the frame.
Brighton resisted United’s late interest in the 21-year-old in the summer but they remain keen with the Cameroon international also wanting to move to Old Trafford.
But United also see Nottingham Forest’s England international Anderson as another target and his ability to play No6 and also as a marauding midfielder means they are ready to pull out all the stops to get him.
Anderson, 23, is attracting huge interest after his impressive performances for club and country and Forest know they are facing a battle to keep hold of him.

However, he is likely to cost less than £100m-rated Baleba and that is why he is seen as a good piece of potential business. United veteran Casemiro’s contract is running down and would have to take a pay cut to stay.
They have also been interested in Conor Gallagher should he be available as a loan in January from Atletico Madrid as he looks to win a World Cup place.
United spent big on forwards last summer with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko and are now ready to do the same with their midfield as part of their long term rebuild to back Amorim.

Their summer of big spending was followed by a woeful start to the current campaign, with Amorim’s side sitting 14th at the end of September. They have since rallied since then, having gone on a run of five games unbeaten.
United now sit seventh in the standings following a late draw against Tottenham last time out. The Red Devils will be back in action next weekend as they take on Everton at Old Trafford.
