After several times taking on the job on an interim basis, Shanon McCarthy was officially promoted to general manager of the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club this fall.

McCarthy has been at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club for more than 17 years, previously serving as the longtime director of memberships and communication. Over the years, she served as the interim general manager three times when the club was in transition between leadership, most recently serving in the interim role since late 2024.

She is the first woman to serve as general manager in the club’s history.

“Shanon’s promotion to general manager is a proud moment for the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club,” said Mick Marks, president of the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club Board of Governors in an announcement to the community. “She has earned the trust and respect of our members through years of steady leadership and a heartfelt commitment to the traditions that make this club so special. The Board of Governors has full confidence in Shanon’s ability to carry forward our legacy while continuing to elevate the member experience. Our club is in excellent hands.”

During her tenure, McCarthy helped oversee the major golf course renovation completed in 2023 and is on board for the upcoming improvements to the clubhouse, restaurant and snack bar.

She will continue to report to the Golf Club Board of Governors and to Dominique Albrecht, the chief administrative officer and manager of the RSF Association.

“I’m thrilled to see Shanon officially step into the role of general manager for the Golf Club. Her deep institutional knowledge, professionalism, and genuine care for our members make her perfectly suited to guide the club into its next chapter,” said Albrecht. “The Golf Club is one of the most cherished amenities in Rancho Santa Fe, and Shanon’s leadership ensures it will continue to be a source of pride for our community.”
