Without a doubt, things are going rather slow when it comes to the MLB offseason. However, the exciting thing is that as soon as one move happens, a flurry of others could be right behind it. Another factor in getting activity going is the passing of important dates and deadlines that help define the offseason. A few more important deadlines come this week as teams and players continue to make important decisions for 2026 and beyond.
By Tuesday, the free agents (13 in number) who were given a qualified offer must decide rather or not to accept the qualifying offer. By Friday, teams must decide whether or not to tender contracts to certain players on their rosters for 2026. These dates will add more clarity to the free agent market, which could aid in action getting going in the coming days.
