The Spurs will be wearing their fan favorite City Edition jerseys this Thursday when they close out a five-game homestand versus the Atlanta Hawks.
With starting point guard Trae Young sidelined by a sprained MCL in his right knee, the Hawks have leaned on a quick transition offense and tight interior defense to keep pace with opponents.
After acquiring center Kristaps Porzingis via trade over the summer, Atlanta also added guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker to help improve their defense and perimeter shooting.
Thanks to the 2022 Dejounte Murray trade, the Spurs have the right to swap draft picks with Atlanta in 2026, potentially resulting in another lottery pick for San Antonio and providing additional motivation against the Hawks.
Next up for the Spurs is a four-game road trip that includes NBA Cup matchups versus the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets. Look for Stephon Castle to continue to impress as De’Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper settle in after recovering from nagging injuries.
