Auburn basketball suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, nearly beating then-No. 1 Houston, but losing 73-72.

Houston dropped to No. 2 in the rankings, but Auburn kept its spot at No. 22, despite the loss. It’s the second straight week Auburn has been ranked second, two spots below where it started the season.

With the Houston game now behind the Tigers, they still have to face two teams currently ranked in the top five before the end of non-conference play. Auburn will face No. 4 Arizona on Dec. 6 and No. 1 Purdue on Dec. 20.

The Tigers are also scheduled to face Michigan and NC State in non-conference play, who are ranked No. 7 and No. 25, respectively.

Auburn is also one of six SEC teams to be ranked in this week’s poll, joining No. 21 Arkansas, No. 20 Tennessee, No. 12 Kentucky, No. 11 Alabama and No. 10 Florida.
