Eight Ravens, including six starters, didn’t practice Wednesday as they prepare to take on the New York Jets, headlined by quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson also missed the first practice of last week due to knee soreness. This week, he’s listed with an ankle injury.

Head Coach John Harbaugh said it’s the “same type of situation” this week for the Ravens’ star quarterback.

“I know it’s Lamar. I know it’s our quarterback. I understand how important it is,” Harbaugh said. “It wasn’t in his best interest to practice today and we’ll see where we’re at tomorrow.”

The other Ravens who didn’t practice were safety Kyle Hamilton (shoulder/groin), linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), left tackle Ronnie Stanley (illness), left guard Andrew Vorhees (foot), wide receiver Rashod Bateman (ankle), tight end Isaiah Likely (calf), and cornerback Keyon Martin (rib).

While not going into details on any of their ailments, Harbaugh acknowledged that body maintenance is part of the calculation this time of the year, especially after the Ravens had an early Week 7 bye.

“It is Week 12, guys play [football]. It’s the physical nature of the sport,” Harbaugh said. “Some guys don’t practice on Wednesday. We’ll try to get everybody available for Sunday that we can, and we’ll see as the week goes on, who becomes available.”

In good news, cornerback Marlon Humphrey returned to practice as a limited participant with his left hand wrapped after missing all of last week following surgery to insert a pin in his finger. On Monday, Harbaugh said he’s “optimistic” about Humphrey’s chances of playing against the Jets.

Running back Justice Hill (toe) was a full practice participant Monday after missing the game in Cleveland.

Martin stayed overnight in a Cleveland hospital following the Ravens’ win and his first career sack, but he’s back in Baltimore now.

“It didn’t turn out to be a serious thing,” Harbaugh said. “There was some concern about putting him on the plane. They wanted to do some tests, and it didn’t turn out to be a thing that was a problem that way, so he flew back the next morning.”
