Officials say the woman was bitten on her arm and lower back after the dog jumped the fence and knocked her down as she was delivering mail.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department says a USPS mail driver has been hospitalized after being bit by a dog on the northwest side.
Around noon, authorities responded to the 1500 block of West Craig Place after receiving reports of a dog attack. According to preliminary information provided by SAPD at the scene, the dog jumped a fence and knocked the mail carrier down before biting her right arm and lower back.
USPS confirmed one of its letter carriers was involved but wouldn’t share further details.
“The safety and well-being of our employees and customers is paramount to the Postal Service,” officials said.
The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police officials say the dog will be quarantined for 10 days since the owner could not verify vaccines.
