The Grammy season has officially begun. With the release of the full list of nominees for the 68th Grammy Awards, excitement—and debate—is already sweeping through the music world. The ceremony, set for February 1, 2026, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, promises a mix of familiar faces, breakout stars, and a few eyebrow-raising omissions. From pop icons to rock veterans, the competition is stacked.
The Big Night Ahead
Each winter, the global music industry turns its eyes toward the U.S., where the Grammys highlight the artists who have shaped the past year. The 2025 edition crowned powerhouses like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Gojira, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter. This time, the field is just as competitive, with Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan all emerging as top contenders.
Bad Bunny, Doechii, Justin Bieber, and the duo Rosé & Bruno Mars are also in the running, signaling a diverse and dynamic race for music’s most respected awards.
Why Taylor Swift Isn’t on the List
One of the biggest talking points? The absence of Taylor Swift, whose album The Life of a Showgirl would have been a heavy favorite—if only it had been released on time. Grammy eligibility rules require music to be commercially available in the U.S. between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025. Swift’s October release missed the cutoff, pushing her next Grammy moment to 2027.
