Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday that New Yorkers facing food insecurity this holiday season will have access to additional benefits through the state’s Fresh Connect program.

Qualified participants will receive twenty dollars in Fresh Connect checks each week to use at participating farmers markets statewide.

The program is funded as part of the $106 million of emergency funding the governor fast-tracked in response to the recent government shutdown.

In a statement, Governor Hochul said:

“…We continue to do everything in our power to ensure that New Yorkers do not go hungry this holiday season.

“…I encourage eligible New Yorkers to find a participating market near them and take part in this program.”
