He’s just earned his first ever PGA Tour card, but Laurie Canter is expected to turn it down in favor of a move back to LIV Golf…

Laurie Canter is set for a LIV Golf return – just days after earning a PGA Tour card via the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai Rankings.

The Englishman played on the league in each of its first three seasons, first as a member of Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks team then as a reserve, banking more than $6 million in the process.

Earlier this year, Canter teed up at The Players Championship to become the first former LIV golfer to compete in a PGA Tour event. He went on to finish 7th in the Race to Dubai, and second in the battle for the 10 PGA Tour cards.

But, according to a report in the Sports Business Journal, Canter is expected to snub the opportunity to rejoin LIV Golf.

Laurie Canter started his LIV Golf career at Centurion in London

There are currently a number of spaces he could fill. The Hyflyers’ Andy Ogletree, Torque’s Mito Pereira, and the Iron Heads’ Yubin Yang were all relegated in 2025. But the most obvious fit would be with Majesticks GC, whose roster is down to three after Henrik Stenson finished in the Drop Zone.

If that were to be Canter’s move, he would make up an all-English team with co-captains Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, and Sam Horsfield. He has previously filled in for the injured Horsfield.

It would also make it two years in a row that a player earning a PGA Tour card through the Race to Dubai has turned down the move in favor of joining LIV. Last time, it was Tom McKibbin, who opted for a spot on Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team.

It also means Daniel Brown, will be bumped up the pecking order for a PGA Tour card.

TG reached out to LIV Golf, who declined to comment.

Earlier this week, LIV Golf announced the first signing of the offseason, with three-time DP World Tour winner Victor Perez joining Cleeks.
