SAN ANTONIO — A local pediatrician accused of sexually assaulting a minor patient had a previous formal complaint made against him, according to court documents.

Gabriel Perez, 50, was arrested Friday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Perez is currently listed on Centro Med’s website as a physician at Sorrento Plaza, located on the Northwest Side of town.

Police said a patient, between the ages of 10 and 16, told his parents he was sexually assaulted by Perez during a checkup. During the visit, Perez allegedly asked the victim’s mother to exit the examination room. After she exited the room, Perez allegedly sexually assaulted the victim.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained on Saturday, the victim, who is currently 16, stated he was sexually assaulted by Perez at the age of 12.

The next year when the victim returned for his annual check-up at age 13, he stated that Perez inappropriately touched him and had sexual contact with him. Perez told the victim, “You know you can’t tell anyone, right?,” the affidavit states.

Perez told investigators the Texas Medical Board had received a formal complaint against him stemming from an incident in February 2024 involving a 17-year-old patient.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims in this case and urge the public to contact the San Antonio Police Department’s Special Victims Unit if they have any information.

Jail records show Perez has since been released on bond.
