In case you haven’t heard yet, the Silent Hill 2 Remake was quietly released on Xbox just a few hours ago!
There’s been a lot of speculation about how this game will run on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and the YouTube channel Fuzion Xbox Testing has rapidly shared some initial footage for us to help decide whether it’s worth buying.
On Xbox Series X, the Silent Hill 2 Remake has two modes to choose from — Quality and Performance — with both outputting at 4K but with a native resolution that “approximately” bounces around the 1080p or lower mark. The graphics look good and most importantly the frame rate seems to be solid, with this specific footage suggesting it retains a mostly locked 30FPS and 60FPS across the two modes. Impressive!
On Xbox Series S, the Silent Hill 2 Remake has just the one mode that seems to run at a native 831p or lower (outputting at 1080p). It still looks the part visually though, and again, there’s a suggestion here that it sticks to a mostly locked 30FPS. There’s no 60FPS option, but we’re happy to see very few dips (if any) from 30 frames.
As usual, we have to mention that Fuzion Xbox Testing only intends to give us an early idea of what to expect from games like this, and the likes of Digital Foundry will do more in-depth testing in the days and weeks to come.
Still, this is a promising first look at Silent Hill 2 Remake for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and if you want to try it out for yourself, keep in mind that it’s discounted by 50% at launch – a great excuse to buy it for the weekend!
We’ll leave you with the two videos down below – one for Series X, one for Series S.
