The plant shop Pita’s Planters in Casa Linda Plaza will celebrate its two-year anniversary with a holiday market from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29.
“We’ll have local plant vendors, handmade artisans, food trucks, music, giveaways and more — all to celebrate Small Business Saturday and two years of serving our East Dallas community,” owner Lupita Rios said in an email to the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate.
The event will include a toy and food drive benefitting the White Rock Center of Hope and neighbors who use the organization’s services. The more you donate, the more entries you get in the raffle for “ultra-rare ‘unicorn’ plants and other prizes.”
The ultimate score is free plants ($50 or less) from Pita’s Planters each month for a year, but the raffle will award multiple winners.
A donation of one to five items equals one entry in the raffle, while five to 10 items is two entries, and over 10 items is three entries. You can bring new, unwrapped toys and/or goods, such as canned meats, baking products and mixes, jelly and jam, cereal, breakfast bars, canned fruit, canned soup and full-size hygiene products. Donations can be dropped off at Pita’s Planters between now and Nov. 29, according to Facebook.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus are expected to attend the event, so families may want to stop by so their children can have an audience with and get a picture taken with the big guy before Christmas. The kids can paint ornaments with Mrs. Claus as well. And these activities are free.
More information, including the list of food, plant and craft vendors, is available on Facebook.
