JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Winter in Florida is typically associated with beaches and palm trees, but in Jacksonville, one group is looking to bring some cooler traditions into the mix as we approach the Christmas holiday.
Beginning on Friday, Nov. 28 and running through Jan. 19, downtown Jacksonville will be host to the city’s first-ever outdoor ice skating rink at the Artist Walk Skatepark near the Riverside Arts Market.
The event, dubbed JAX Artist Walk on Ice, will operate daily from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and until 10 p.m. on Fridays.
During the weekends, it will open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Sunday.
General admission tickets, which include skate rental and about an hour and 15 minutes on the ice, are priced at $17 plus a $1.50 fee and taxes.
Special discounts will be offered on select nights. A breakdown of those nights are listed below.

Monday Cheapskate Nights: Dec. 1, 8, 15, Jan. 12

Tuesday-Friday Discounts (excluding holiday weeks): Dec 2-4, 9-11, 16-18 and Jan. 7-8. 13-15

Deals: Military and First Responders pay $15 for skates, 75 minutes on the ice (up to 4 people, ID required)

Other special events include a “Skating & Santa” promotion that will take place on Nov. 28 and 29, Dec. 7 (4-6 p.m.), 14 (noon to 2:30 p.m.), 21, and 23. All times are from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Additionally, on Dec. 7 and 14, JAX Artist Walk on Ice will be hosting a Jacksonville Jaguars Game Day Swag Night. Tickets are priced at $15.
