6:30 PM / NOVEMBER 25, 2025

The adaptation of Maxey

Tyrese Maxey has started the season like a house on fire.

As the Sixers get healthy, will his game change?

Tyrese is now tasked with adapting to the return of Paul George and Jared McCain, who open up varied offensive options for Philadelphia, while Joel Embiid, Kelly Oubre and VJ Edgecombe remain out.

Among players with more than 14 games played, Maxey is 10th in the NBA in drives per game, attacking the rim 14.9 per game.

He’s fourth in the league in shots on these drives — 8.3 FGA — but doesn’t pass nearly as much, dishing the ball 4.1 times, which is lower than anyone else in the Top 24, including Zion Williamson (4.8), Ja Morant (4.8), LaMelo Ball (4.5) and Paolo Banchero (4.3).

Cam Thomas, No. 25, is at 2.9 passes on drives per game.

Can Maxey find George and McCain readily, as well as Embiid when he returns, while maintaining his hot streak as a scorer?

Watch his pick-and-rolls tonight against the Magic, who boast the NBA’s 10th best defensive rating at 116.8 and allow the fifth-lowest shooting percentage at shots at the rim at 59.1.

It’ll be a good test for the Kentucky product, who, while he’s been an unstoppable scorer, may seek to adapt into more of a floor general as his talented teammates find their rhythm.

Welcome to ‘NBA Coast 2 Coast Tuesday!’
Franz Wagner

Franz Wagner and the Magic host the 76ers to continue Emirates NBA Cup play in the opening contest of our opening ‘NBA Coast 2 Coast Tuesday’ doubleheader on NBC and Peacock.

We’ve got two rising Eastern Conference squads and the Battle for Los Angeles tonight in our ‘Coast 2 Coast Tuesday’ doubleheader on NBC and Peacock as the 2025 Emirates NBA Cup continues.

In the opener, Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers head to Orlando to take on Franz Wagner and the Magic (8 ET).

Orlando’s gotten hot without Paolo Banchero, who’s missed the last six games, going 4-2 as they rise to seventh in the East.

In Paolo’s absence, Desmond Bane has found his shooting stroke, scoring 21.3 ppg while shooting 43/40/97 from the field, as has Tristan Da Silva (13.3 ppg, 5.2 reb).

They’re seeking a 3-0 record in East Group B as they strive to advance to the Knockout Rounds.

“We’ve got a deep team,” said Bane after Orlando lost to Houston Sunday. “We’ve got trust in everybody — next man up mentality.”

The Sixers are reincorporating Paul George and Jared McCain while adapting to the losses of Joel Embiid, Kelly Oubre and VJ Edgecombe.

Andre Drummond is there, though, and a force on the glass as always. In Sunday’s loss to the Heat, he dropped 14 points and 24 rebounds.

He’s put up 92 games with 20+ rebounds in his career, which is the most among active players.

In the nightcap, Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers host James Harden and the LA Clippers (11 ET).

The Lakers hold a 156-87 all-time edge over the Clippers, dating back to the time the latter franchise played in Buffalo.

Will the Clippers bolster their win total tonight?

James Harden’s been on a heater, averaging 34.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists over his last five games, while Kawhi Leonard is settling back after returning against the Cavaliers on Sunday.

They’ll face Dončić, LeBron James and Austin Reaves in an all-star matchup in Tinseltown.

Here’s tonight’s complete slate:
