Phoenix-area shoppers take advantage of deals in Black Friday nostalgia

  • November 28, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Some shoppers in the Valley waited in lines overnight for exclusive deals on Black Friday.

While the shopping tradition spans additional days at many stores, other retailers offered Friday-only deals in a move that brings back memories of Black Friday past.

Bass Pro Shops

The wilderness-themed outdoor store is offering Friday shoppers exclusive access to some Black Friday deals, and the first 250 customers in line at each location received a mystery gift card ranging from $10 to $500!

Alaina Kwan talked with shoppers at Bass Pro Shops near Dobson Road and the Loop 202 in Mesa. The store is offering deals exclusively on Black Friday.

All Bass Pro Shops locations opened at 5 a.m.

Arizona’s Family talked with shoppers at Bass Pro Shops near Dobson Road and the Loop 202 in Mesa. Some said they had been waiting at the door since Thursday afternoon for the deals.

Target

Aiming to bring back the magic of Black Friday holiday shopping, Target has transformed the event from a shopping day into what it calls a full “experience.”

All Target locations are opening at 6 a.m. on Friday. The first 100 customers at every location will receive a free limited-edition holiday tote filled with giveaways!

The company says 10 shoppers per store can discover extra surprises inside the store. Target will also offer samples of its new exclusive Starbucks drink, the Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate, on Friday.

That’s not the end of the surprises. Also on Friday at Target stores, shoppers can play “The JoyPop Game,” which the company says is “a giveaway experience designed to make the season even more joyful.” Shoppers will need to visit a JoyPop booth inside the store and press the joy popper to reveal a surprise.
