SAN ANTONIO — The world seems to be divided on whether to have a reusable Christmas tree that can potentially last for years or buying a fresh Christmas tree every year.

While the costs on fresh Christmas trees has gone up in recent years, there are still plenty of people who carry on the tradition of having a fresh tree. Whether you are a die-hard fresh tree lover, or trying it out for the first time, the San Antonio area offers plenty of places to get a fresh-cut Christmas tree.

Moon Valley Nurseries

The mainstay of tree nurseries offers everything from the classic Noble Fir to the fragrant Fraser Fir and popular Douglas Fir. The lots are located in several places around the San Antonio area.

Devine Acres Farm

In addition to having dozens of family events on this farm, they also sell fresh-cut Christmas trees, which are packed and shipped in water for freshness. Admission to the farm is required to enter the fields. The farm says it will apply up to $50 of your admission fee towards your tree. Should you choose not to take home a tree, there will be no refunds).

Holiday Hills Christmas Trees

This Christmas tree farm says their trees are fresh cut in November and arrive at the farm four days after being cut, ensuring that your tree will have a long, healthy life.

Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm

The established tree farm has been around for decades and opened in 1994! It is located between Bandera and San Antonio about 23 miles outside Loop 1604 on Highway 16. 

A unique aspect of this farm is that they have “living Christmas trees” which can be planted after Christmas and do not dry out or die. The trees are the Leyland cypress and also the Blue Ice [cultivar of Arizona cypress] and come in 15 gallon pots.

Gorilla’s Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Farm

Gorilla’s boasts one of the biggest Christmas tree lots in San Antonio with a variety of different trees at affordable prices. The lot makes a fun, holday activity out of purchasing a tree, which includes children’s games and family photos with holiday settings. 

The lot is located on Goliad Road on the southeast side of San Antonio.

Seiler Tree Farm

This family-owned Seguin area farm offers affordable prices at $10 a foot (no trees below four feet). The farm provided a saw to cut your own tree and will shake the needles and bag the tree for you.

Home Depot

The big box store has been creating memories for families for many years. You can choose a Christmas tree from their tree lot and the staff will cut and wrap the tree and help you load it in your car.
