Re “San Diego ready to make a deal to turn 101 Ash St. into low-income housing” (June 30): The financing scheme for affordable housing in the poisonous Ash Street building sounds more convoluted and tentative than that for the cursed bullet train.
The oddest component is a hoped-for designation as an historically significant site! Are we now including civic stupidity as an appropriate marker? If so, I can think of a half-dozen additional locations to recognize as historical monuments to government malfeasance and obtain public subsidies — starting with the border sewage plant.
