The Santa Ana winds that lifted temperatures above average over the past few days will be replaced over the weekend by onshore winds that will spread cooler air across San Diego County, the National Weather Service says.
The region will feel the effects of a Catalina eddy, a system that churns in a counter-clockwise direction, funneling moisture ashore, creating a thick marine layer that can extend all the way to the mountains. Eddies can also generate early morning and late afternoon fog that can delay flights at San Diego International Airport.
Temperatures will tick up slightly on Monday. But a strong low-pressure system will follow and could produce scattered showers on Wednesday or Thursday, the weather service says.
San Diego’s daytime high is predicted to be 67 on Saturday, 66 on Sunday, 68 on Monday and 67 on Tuesday. The seasonal high is 70. Temperatures rose to the 75-to-77 range over Thanksgiving.
It appears that San Diego International Airport will finish November with 3.10 inches of rain. The airport averages 1.01 for the month.
