HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting reported in a north Harris County neighborhood, according to Harris County Precinct 4.

What we know:
The shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. Saturday near Pear Tree Lane and Kenchester Drive, close to FM 1960 and the Hardy Toll Road.
Authorities say a male has been pronounced deceased at the scene. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez later announced one person was detained.

An investigation is underway after a man allegedly shot and killed his daughter’s adult ex-boyfriend in the north Harris County home they lived in. Harris County Sergeant Jason Brown provided information at the scene.
According to Sergeant Jason Brown, the deceased victim was the ex-boyfriend of the shooter’s daughter. The daughter moved out of the home some time ago, but her ex continued living at the home with her father.
The deceased man is said to be 50 years old, and the alleged shooter is 71 years old.
Allegedly, the victim was having a mental health crisis when the shooting happened. It’s believed the deceased man was threatening the alleged shooter before shots were fired.
Sgt. Brown said the man’s crises had escalated recently, and Precinct 4 constable deputies had been called to the home numerous times within the last few weeks regarding family violence issues.
Sgt. Brown said the shooter stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

No one involved has been identified at this time.

Charges have not been filed at this time, according to Sgt. Brown.
Once the investigation is over, charges will depend on the Harris County District Attorney’s Office or a grand jury.
