Thousands of Venmo users in Chicago and nationwide reported issues with the money-sharing app Wednesday.

Reports of problems with Venmo started around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Downdetector. By 6:30 p.m., over 14,000 users had reported issues with the app. The number of reports dropped by 9 p.m., though over 7,000 users were still reporting problems.

Around 9:30 p.m., Venmo posted a story on Instagram stating they were aware users were “experiencing issues” with the app.

“Our team is working on a fix, and we’ll update you as soon as it’s resolved. Thanks for your patience,” the post said.

Problems with Venmo were reported all over the country, including in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Boston, according to a map of reports on Downdetector.

PayPal users also reported problems, though significantly fewer reports were made.

Reports of issues with PayPal also began around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, later peaking around 6:37 p.m. with 40 users expressing issues with the app.
