LOS ANGELES — The world’s largest sporting event is coming to Los Angeles in less than 200 days.

SoFi Stadium was awarded eight matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including two group-stage games featuring the U.S. Men’s National Team and a quarterfinal. The monthlong lineup positions Los Angeles as one of the tournament’s central hubs, a role that city officials say could generate unprecedented economic and cultural impact.

The U.S. will open its World Cup campaign in LA on June 12, facing Paraguay. The team returns on June 25 for its final group match, with the opponent to be determined after playoffs in March.
