Romance isn’t the only thing found in Love Park during the holiday season. Nestled right in the heart of Philadelphia, Christmas Village is settled in by city hall continuing to be the perfect place if you’re looking for something to do during this festive time.

Right on 1500 Arch Street The Philadelphia Christmas Village has lights, food, and vendors for everyone to enjoy. If that doesn’t seem like enough, a three minute walk away is The Dilworth Ice Skating Rink. There is plenty there with ice skating, more vendors, more food, and a 50 ft tall tree decked out with lights and ornaments from top to bottom.

It is no cost to walk in. Although parking is never free in the city, so plan to pay for parking. In the village there are many vendors with items that range from alpaca fur scarves to art made from vinyl records. A lot of the items are handmade which makes them a special keepsake or an amazing gift. As well as that most of the businesses are small businesses, so the items are expected to be high quality and long lasting.

Along with the wide variety of shopping there is a great deal to eat and drink. Being picky isn’t a problem when it comes to the village because there is plenty to eat for everyone. Some Philadelphia favorites like cheesesteaks and pretzels are an option, with some traditional German food also nested in. Bratwurst, schnitzel, and strudel are just a few of the delicacies you can find in Dilworth and Love Park.

Speaking of German snacks, the whole village in Love Park is all based on German culture. Christmas Village is a close model of traditional Christmas markets in Germany. In inner cities in Germany there are many outdoor markets dating all the way back to the 16th century. To really capture the feel of Germany there is an opening singing act from Christkind, a band from Christkindlesmarkt, Nuremberg. This is all to really capture a German-American feel this holiday season.

Just an hour away from North Penn High School, a Hallmark-esque evening is waiting for you in Love and Dilworth Park. Bring family, friends, or a loved one to have a memorable escape this holiday season. Don’t wait now if you are looking for something to do; hop on the train, or jump into the car and enjoy the food, activities, or shopping, and don’t forget to thank the Knight Crier later.
