SAN ANTONIO – The North East Independent School District will have new leadership early next year as the Board of Trustees voted to appoint Chief Instructional Officer Anthony Jarrett as interim superintendent.
The move comes after Superintendent Sean Maika announced he would step down, with his final day at NEISD set for Jan. 12. His resignation officially takes effect March 31.
Jarrett, who has worked with NEISD for six years and has over 25 years of experience in public education, will assume the interim role on Jan. 13.
“Mr. Jarrett and I have worked closely over the past six years. I have no doubt our District is being left in good hands with him at the helm,” Maika said.
Jarrett said he is ready to continue the district’s momentum and work closely with staff and families. “I’m excited to build on the great work already happening and to explore new opportunities for our students,” he said.
The Board’s decision provides stability for NEISD while it begins the process of searching for a permanent superintendent.
