PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Nearly two years after a shooting left a man dead and a woman hurt in central Phoenix, police have made an arrest in the case.
Phoenix police announced that on Tuesday, authorities arrested Gary Cole Jr., 47, for the murder of Willie Earl Dodd, 62.

Cole Jr. was booked on charges of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, discharging a firearm within city limits and violating his probation. Investigators did provide information on where or how Cole Jr. was found.
On Jan. 15, 2024, around 10 p.m., officers were called to a shooting near 27th Avenue and Hazelwood Street, just east of Interstate 17. Dodd and a woman were shot and rushed to the hospital, where Dodd died from his injuries.
No suspects were found at the time, which led to Silent Witness offering a reward for tips leading to the arrest.
