To meet that challenge, CPS Energy is looking ahead to our Horizon 2050 plan, a long-term strategy that will guide how our community is powered well into the future.

CPS Energy belongs to the people it serves and community input has played a key role in energizing our progress.

In a 2022 survey conducted by CPS Energy, 42% of San Antonio residents said they prefer a blend of power sources, combining natural gas with renewable options like solar, wind and battery storage. Another 31% favored mostly renewable energy. This feedback has guided our short-term Vision 2027 plan and it continues to guide our transition into Vision 2030 and Horizon 2050 as we seek the right balance of clean, reliable and affordable power.

Since the CPS Energy Board of Trustees approved our generation plan in January 2023, CPS Energy has made significant progress in diversifying and strengthening our power generation portfolio. We have added new solar, wind and battery resources, expanded demand-reduction programs through our Sustainable Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP), and secured natural gas capacity to strengthen reliability. These steps support the City of San Antonio’s Climate Action & Adaptation Plan (CAAP) and reflect the priorities the community identified during the last engagement cycle.

CPS Energy is now entering our next phase of outreach. We will be hosting a series of community events where you can learn more about the progress we have made and provide input on what matters most to you today to energize our community into the future.

San Antonio residents are invited to join us at a variety of events across the city to share their feedback on our progress and plans. If you cannot attend an event in person, you can share your feedback by completing our online survey. A list of scheduled events is below with more being announced soon.
