Fort Worth City Council gave approval for Alliance Industrial Partners, LLC, to purchase 10.488 acres from the city during its meeting Dec. 9.

The details

The area, located just south of Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport at 1304 Westport Parkway, was sold for $3.4 million, according to city documents.

The city purchased the land on April 23, 2002, through a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for the Fort Worth Alliance Airport Noise Compatibility Program. City documents state the property is now recommended for sale based on an appraisal performed by a third-party appraiser, an independent review appraiser and approval from the FAA.

Proceeds from the sale will be deposited into a dedicated account to be audited by the FAA and later allocated for airport development.

Zooming in

A percentage calculation for a housing development in northeast Fort Worth was corrected during the meeting, as well.

The change approved for the Lone Star at Liberty Trail project will result in the city’s participation increasing to a maximum of $374,363.01. The developer, D.R. Horton, will experience a cost decrease of $325,446.56, according to council documents.

Council approved the community facility agreement at the Oct. 21 meeting for an area in the Fort Worth ETJ near Council District 10. At the time, the city’s participation amount was $1.08 million. The amendment raises the city’s portion to $1.5 million, which will be paid from bonds issued in 2022 and 2024, according to city documents.

The water department requested an amendment for the improvements and associated construction inspection service fees, city documents state. The public infrastructure, a 24-foot water main extension, will be owned and maintained by the city.

The development will feature a sparkling resort-style pool and splash area, a sand volleyball court, four pickleball courts and a playground, according to a social media post.

One more thing

Council approved a contract with North Rock Construction & Associates for the construction of park improvements at three different Fort Worth locations, including Timberland Park in Council District 10.

The contract for the Denton-based company is $1.86 million, which was not originally part of the 2026-30 capital improvement program, according to city documents.

Base bid improvements include the following:

  • Installation of new playground equipment
  • Concrete sidewalks
  • Americans with Disabilities Act ramps
  • Drainage systems
  • Safety surface material
  • Turf establishment

For Timberland Park, the portion is nearly $227,000.

According to city documents, the contract time is 180 days, with work expected to begin in January and finish in September.
