PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia area spent Sunday digging out from the first significant snowfall of the season that dropped several inches of heavy, wet snow across the region.

Snowfall totals in Philadelphia and places in the nearby suburbs topped five inches, while areas further outside the city saw slightly higher accumulations. 

Similar snowfall measurements were taken in New Jersey and Delaware, including in Mercer County where forecasters say nearly 8 inches of snow came down.

Snow continues to impact travel across the region Sunday, with many neighborhood and secondary roads still snow-covered or slushy. Drivers should plan for reduced visibility, slick spots, and extended travel times, especially in areas that picked up more than 5 inches of snow.
