The New York State Department of Transportation is facing criticism for a plan to repair five bridges along the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Community advocates say the bridge repairs are being used as a cover to expand the highway that has been historically linked to increased respiratory illnesses in the Bronx.

The DOT has backed away from some of its expansion plans after local outcry, but community and environmental organizations say the state is not doing enough to address concerns.

Siddhartha Sánchez, the executive director of the Bronx River Alliance, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.
