PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — To celebrate the holiday season, children and families got to listen to classic songs played by talented musicians.

It’s part of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s “Family Discovery Series,” an effort to introduce their sound to a whole new generation.

“Since 1921, the Philadelphia Orchestra has been performing programs for kids and their parents and grandparents. This was started by Leopold Stokowski…Over the last 25 years, it’s turned into the Family Discovery Series. It’s a great way to introduce kids to music,” said Ryan Fleur, President & CEO of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts.

Audiences can check out the next shows in the Family Discovery Series in 2026.

The closest show is on February 7th 2026: “Peter and the Wolf.”

After that, “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra” is taking place March 14th, 2026.

“We are just so fortunate that we’ve been able to be around and make music for 125 years at the highest possible level…we are so passionate about making sure that the whole fabric of Philadelphia becomes the best place it can be,” said Fleur.
