The Phoenix Fire Department said the investigation has been turned over to Phoenix PD.

PHOENIX — Crews responding to a water rescue call found a body in a Phoenix canal, according to Phoenix police.

The fire department was called out to the canal in the area near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road on Sunday morning.

The fire department said the investigation has been turned over to the Phoenix Police Department.

 Police said the person in the canal was already dead.

12News has reached out to police for further information.

Details about the person’s identity have not been released.
