Phoenix police removed a body from a west Phoenix canal during the morning hours of Dec. 21.
Officers responded just before 10:20 a.m. to the area of 36th and Whitton avenues after getting a report about the body, according to Phoenix police officials.
Officers and Phoenix fire personnel determined the person was dead. Police did not release the person’s name or their description.
“That investigation may take some time. Please stay out of the area while detectives and teams continue the investigation,” according to an email from police officials.
