For most schools the last two months of the year are defined by the rush of holiday season.

At CB Community Schools (CBCS) they are defined by something deeper, the celebration of family.

As a specialized institution dedicated to serving children within the child welfare system CB Community Schools knows its mission extends far beyond the classroom.

Over the past two months the school has decided to honor its people who make their mission possible, the students, staff and supporters who believe in the power of a supportive environment .

The season of celebration kicked off on November 25 with a “Friendsgiving” lunch at the school.

The event was more than a meal, it was a physical manifestation of the core philosophy ensuring that every young person feels seen, heard and inspired.

The house was filled with the leadership, students, staff and friends and the lunch provided a space where everyone could reflect on the great things within the CB community.

There was a spirit of gratitude and it didn’t end with Thanksgiving.

Building on the energy of the Friendsgiving event, two dedicated board members took it upon themselves to keep the positive environment moving forward driven by a desire to build comradery.
