The Arlington Fire Department responded to a grass fire that spread to multiple buildings overnight, officials said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A grass fire spread to multiple buildings overnight in Arlington, prompting a major response from the Arlington Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a grass fire around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, in the 900 block of West Division Street, the Arlington Fire Department said in a press release. The blaze involved multiple buildings and vehicles, officials said.

When crews arrived, they found a structure fire at an auto repair shop involving the building and multiple vehicles inside the building, the release states. The fire extended to exterior storage areas and buildings on nearby properties, officials said. 

Firefighters called for additional crews to respond to the scene because of the size of the fire and the fact that it extended to multiple structures, the release states. 

Railroad traffic was also paused because crews were working near the tracks, officials said. Utility personnel also responded to the scene because a power pole between two of the buildings caught fire, the release states. 

No injuries were reported, and all the businesses were unoccupied at the time of the fire, officials said. 

The fire was brought under control and railway traffic was opened up around 11:30 p.m., the release states. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
