IO Interactive has pushed the release date of the James Bond video game 007: First Light back by two months.

In a statement on social media, the Danish video game developer explained why the video game was being delayed.

“The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch,” read the statement. “We’re confident this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we’ve received ever since we revealed the game.”

007: First Light was expected to be released on March 27, 2026, but will now instead be available on May 27, 2026, the release date that the much-deleayed GTA6 was initially supposed to drop.

The video game was previewed during PlayStation‘s 2025 State of Play in September. Dexter: Original Sin star Patrick Gibson stars as the 007 agent in his early days at MI6. Gibson will be joined by other actors voicing characters, including Lennie James (Greenway), Priyanga Burford (M), Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Kiera Lester (Moneypenny), and Noémie Nakai (Ms. Roth).

A standard edition of the game is available to pre-order now for $69.99, and anyone who pre-orders before the launch will automatically be upgraded to the deluxe edition, which includes cosmetic features and 24-hour early access to download the game digitally. IO is also offering a special edition priced at $299.99, featuring the Base Game, Deluxe Edition Content, Golden Gun Figurine, Certificate of Authenticity, Steelcase with a magnet, Golden Gun weapon skin, and Obsidian Gold suit.
