ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Lobos are in Phoenix preparing for their first bowl game since 2016, the Rate Bowl.
The team arrived in Arizona Tuesday, chartering a plane owned by the New England Patriots. They enjoyed a night out watching the Suns-Lakers NBA game and received a shout-out on the big screen.
Coach Jason Eck and a few players spoke about the upcoming matchup and the season. Eck said the Lobos aim to end the season with a significant win.
“Huge statement to go 2 and 1 against the Big Ten, which is tough enough to do to have a winning record for a lot of teams in the Big Ten that aren’t Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, gets a 10 wins. It’s only been done one time in school history,” said Eck.
The Lobos have plans to give back to the community by hosting a charity event with the Salvation Army on Christmas.
The big game is set for Friday, Dec. 26.
