SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County Judge Michele Garcia has reportedly passed away, according to county officials who took to social media to share the sad news on Saturday.

Judge Garcia served as Justice of the Peace for Bexar County Precinct 4.

Texas Stonewall Democrats President Robert Vargas III shared the sad news in an official Facebook post. Judge Garcia was a part of the group, which is a LGBTQ caucus of the Texas Democratic Party.

“My prayers are with her wife, her family, and all who loved and worked alongside her during this difficult time,” Vargas III wrote.

Tax Commissioner Albert Uresti and District Attorney Joe Gonzalez also commented on the post.

“Michelle was a wonderful person. We had a great mutual respect for each other,” Commissioner Uresti shared.

“So saddened to hear about the passing of Judge Garcia, may she rest in peace,” DA Gonzalez wrote.

Commissioner Tommy Calvert, Precinct 4, also took to Facebook to share his condolences.

“I have asked that the Precinct 4 Office flag be flown at half staff for 9 days of mourning in honor of her service to the people of Bexar County. Please keep her wife, family, co-workers, and friends in your prayers,” Commissioner Calvert wrote.

It’s unclear how Judge Garcia passed.
