A pedestrian was hit and killed on I-45 in Houston, prompting a lengthy closure. The victim’s identity remains unknown, and drivers should seek alternate routes.
HOUSTON — Southbound lanes of Interstate 45 are shut down at Cottage Street after a person was hit and killed on the freeway, according to Houston police.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. and kept the freeway closed for several hours.
Houston police say the person who was struck was wearing dark clothing and was in the middle of the roadway at the time of the crash.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or details about the driver involved.
There is no word yet on when southbound I-45 will reopen. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
