A 24-year-old man was arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly breaking into a vacant house downtown.
Sault Police say officers were dispatched to the 0-100 block of Wellington Street East at around 10:20 a.m. to assist by-law enforcement officers who were re-securing the vacant property.
“Upon arrival, officers instructed an unauthorized person to exit the residence,” says a news release issued this morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “A search of the accused located tools used to break into the residence and approximately 2.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine.”
The next morning, Christmas Day, the man was arrested again. Police say he was carrying 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 0.67 grams of suspected fentanyl.
Dylan Taylor, 24, is charged with:
- Break and Enter Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Possession of Schedule I Substance x3
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Feb. 23, 2026.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Taylor is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
