Fort Worth police are investigating two fatal shootings that occurred minutes apart Monday afternoon after a large altercation involving multiple people erupted near a city park in East Fort Worth.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers were in the area responding to an unrelated service call shortly after 2:13 p.m. when they heard gunfire coming from the 1500 block of Liberty Street. Responding officers located a teenage female suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 17-year-old Cyanna Boone, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

While officers were still securing the scene, a second shooting was reported approximately five minutes later in the 1700 block of Handley Drive. Police found another individual inside a parked vehicle with a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to a hospital, where they later died. Authorities have not yet released the individual’s identity.

Investigators said another person had been inside the vehicle during the second shooting but fled before officers arrived. That individual was later located at a nearby residence.

Police believe a group of roughly 15 to 20 people had gathered at the park when a verbal dispute escalated into a physical confrontation. During the disturbance, an unidentified individual allegedly opened fire. Detectives believe the two fatal shootings may be connected.

Authorities said there is no ongoing danger to the public. No arrests have been made, and investigators have not disclosed a motive.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222.
