20-year-old faces a long list of charges after a weekend collision near Doncaster Road and Farwell Terrace involving a go-kart and a vehicle

Sault Police have charged a man with impaired driving — of a go-kart.

Shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 27, someone phoned 911 to report a collision in the area of Doncaster Road and Farwell Terrace.

When officers arrived, they discovered that a motorized go-kart had struck a vehicle. Nobody was injured.

“Upon speaking with the driver of the go-kart, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The driver provided multiple breath samples that all registered over the legal limit, police allege.

Logan MacGillivray, 20, is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Careless Driving (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive with Improper Headlights (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive without Proper Rear Light – Motor Vehicle (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • No Mirror (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card (under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on March 2, 2026.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and MacGillivray is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
