Harris County skies will be lit on New Year’s Eve as residents ring in 2026 with fireworks. 

Tickets start at $99 for the annual celebration at POST Houston, The Great Gatsby-themed event features cirque performers, DJs, caricature drawings and a fireworks show at midnight from the 5.5-acre Skylawn rooftop park. Spring-based Celestial Displays is putting on the fireworks show synced to music. 

The New Year’s Eve Ball at Sugar Land’s Constellation Field is offered for guests 21 and up, featuring a buffet dinner, open bar for beer and wine, a DJ and a view of the midnight fireworks show. Ticket prices start at $137. 

Options are also available for those who would rather be in bed when the clock strikes midnight. 

A family-friendly party is set to begin at Redemption Square at 7 p.m. and will feature food, live music and an art market. Those 21 and older can reserve a spot at Sweet Seats Under the Stars for a VIP experience with beer, wine and dessert. 

The Kemah Boardwalk is hosting a free event starting at 1 p.m. featuring live music and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. A ticketed Boardwalk FantaSea Fireworks Dinner Cruise boards at 7:30 p.m. and is sold out. 

A 6:30 p.m. fireworks show is planned at Moody Gardens in Galveston, and families can spend the rest of the evening playing arcade games in the Family Fun Zone. An adult lounge will be available for guests over 21. 

The fireworks show at Home Run Dugout in Katy begins at 8:30 p.m. but doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets for tables and suites begin at $60 and include a complimentary bottle of champagne.

Discovery Green, a popular holiday venue for families, won’t light up the sky for New Year’s Eve this year, but offers an ice skating rink open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 1 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Tickets are $18 and include skates. The ice rink, dubbed Green Mountain Energy Ice, was made from the Kinder Lake model boat basin, and will host skaters daily through February 2. 

The Harris County Sheriff’s Department reminds residents that it’s illegal to shoot fireworks within the city limits and in unincorporated areas near schools, churches, hospitals and childcare centers. 

A county burn ban was lifted in early December but fire officials advise that those using fireworks in areas where they are permitted should keep a water source nearby, never re-light a firework that doesn’t go off, and avoid using them near pets, parked vehicles and crowded areas.
