Snow on Bin

UTICA, N.Y. — Residents are reminded to secure their garbage and recycling bins during severe winter weather.

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority advises that holding onto garbage and recycling until the next collection day or using containers with lids can help maintain clean streets and neighborhoods.

Alternatively, residents can bring their waste to the Utica or Rome EcoDrop, where garbage costs $2 per bag and recycling is free.

Due to the current snow emergency, City of Utica residents can bring their blue bags to the Utica EcoDrop for free until Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.
