Two separate crashes on the North Central Expressway in Dallas left three people dead on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The first incident occurred at 5:29 a.m. along the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 near the Interstate 635 interchange, where a major accident blocked all lanes during the morning commute.

When officers arrived, they found a person lying in the roadway and pronounced them dead, the Dallas Police Department said.

Authorities have not released details about how the individual ended up on the roadway, and the death remains under investigation.

In a separate incident minutes later, officers responded at 5:32 a.m. to a crash along North Central Expressway southbound at West Northwest Highway, police said.

A preliminary investigation determined the crash involved a single vehicle that caught fire.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and extinguished the flames. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No additional information about the victims has been released and both investigations remain ongoing.
