New Year’s resolutions might persuade some North Texans to eat less in 2026, but we have a different strategy: Let’s eat smarter and spend less. This month’s Hot List includes restaurants across Dallas-Fort Worth at all price points that offer a discount or deal.
Keep in mind, however, that the best way to prove you love a restaurant in North Texas is by going there — and spending money. So, choose wisely. And spend wisely. Your favorite restaurants are counting on you in 2026.

Burger Schmurger in East Dallas
Restaurant News

One of the most popular orders at Burger Schmurger is the flagship cheeseburger, the Schmurger (pictured here).

Casual Burger Schmurger near White Rock Lake offers a Monday through Friday lunch special for those in a hurry: It’s $15 for a burger, fries and a soft drink or iced tea. (For kids, a single-patty cheeseburger costs $7 any time of day.) If you tell ‘em you’ve gotta get back to work, they’ll move your lunch order to the front of the line.
Regulars are all too happy to share their favorite menu items, and mine’s The Maverick. It’s a double patty burger with two kinds of cheese, smoked bacon jam and good vibes. Doesn’t it sound like a great way to start your 2026?

We’ve sung the praises of Korean-Japanese restaurant Domodomo Kō on The Dallas Morning News’ podcast, Eat Drink D-FW. Now it’s time for you to tuck into this serene restaurant yourself. Some might opt for the $49 per person sushi lunch or dinner — a great price for what you get — but let’s go lower. The dosirak, or bento lunch, costs as low as $17 for Korean fried chicken, miso soup, rice, cabbage salad and edamame. For a few bucks more, the entree changes to miso black cod, beef bulgogi or Korean spicy pork — but still with all those great sides.

Tack on a buck or two more for the bacon-swiss-mushroom, the portabello veggie or the bacon blue cheese burger. That’s dinner for less than $10.

Fortunate Son in Garland
Downtown Garland has some fun, new restaurants. Check out Fortunate Son, a pizza joint from the owners of Goodfriend.

We love Fortunate Son for its New Haven, Conn.-style pizzas that are rare in this part of Texas. But while you’re grabbing a slice, plan your trip accordingly and you’ll find some great drink specials. Select glasses of wine are $4 at happy hour — 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Discounts extend to beer, cocktails and frozen drinks. And, while you’re there, you’d better supplement the pizza and drinks with some chicken wings, which cost $9 to $18. Fortunate Son’s are some of the best around.

If you’re not following Jaquval, a cozy pub in Dallas’ Bishop Arts District, on Instagram, do that. (The past few months have brought lots of inspo, like November’s Thanksgiving dinner sandwich for $16, pet photo sessions with Santa and details on the latest karaoke sesh.) As we move into 2026, turn to Jaquval on Mondays and Wednesdays for two filling deals. On Monday steak night, $20 will get you a rib-eye with blue cheese compound butter and hand-cut fries. On Wednesday all day, it’s $14 for a cheeseburger, fries and a pint of house-brewed beer.
Jaquval is at 312 W. 7th St., Dallas.
Kirin Court in Plano and Richardson
Some of the best-known dim sum in D-FW is at Kirin Court.
Recently, longtime D-FW Chinese restaurant Kirin Court expanded from Richardson to a second location, in Plano. At both, diners are in charge of their own fates, selecting plates off carts as they roll by. Plates range in price from about $4 to $8 and include dumplings, steamed buns, egg rolls and (so much) more. If you’re trying to keep lunch or dinner to a certain price, it’s easy — and delicious — to do at Kirin Court.

Smiley N. Pool / Staff Photographer
Meridian, the reborn modern American restaurant in The Village, wants to invite you to Sunday supper. For $99 total, four people can eat fried chicken, corn bread, pimento grits, broccolini and dessert. Meridian’s Sunday night deal is a shining example of what we expect to see more of in 2026: restaurants offering diners a reason to visit on a specific day, for a specific price. Even better, Meridian gives 20% of Sunday supper proceeds to Meat Fight, a local nonprofit that raises funds for multiple sclerosis research.
Meridian is at 5605 Village Glen Drive, Dallas.

Two words: $1.50 oysters. Plank Provisions in Fort Worth has an excellent happy hour from 3-6 p.m., seven days a week. All three restaurants are owned by the same Dallas hospitality group, and they’re located right in a row near Dallas’ Devonshire/Bluffview neighborhood.

Yoichi Omakase in Fort Worth
New Japanese restaurant Yoichi Omakase is serving a 12-course dinner for $89. Now: That’s not a low-price dinner in our eyes, but it’s about $100 less per person than many of the other omakase restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth, like Shoyo, Sushi Bar, Sushi Kozy and Dallas’ only Michelin-starred restaurant, Tatsu. Yoichi is Fort Worth’s “best new restaurant, hands down,” according to Fort Worth Magazine. There are no reservations here, so show up as early as 4:30 p.m. to get a seat.
Yoichi Omakase is at 711 W. Magnolia Ave., Fort Worth.
Ziziki’s in Dallas
Our doctor said to follow the Mediterranean diet, and we’re hoping wine is part of that regimen. Greek restaurant Ziziki’s, which has two locations in Dallas, sells half-price bottles of wine on Mondays and Tuesdays. For lunch and dinner, you’ll find light but filling food that includes shrimp salad, lamb meatballs and salmon with couscous. Or, go for brunch and a generous Mediterranean spread costs $35 to $45 for diners 12 or older. Kids eat brunch for $14-20.
Ziziki’s is at 4514 Travis St. and 16661 Preston Road (at Forest Lane), both in Dallas.
