A 35-year-old man is facing a possible drug-impaired driving charge after an unusual incident on New Year’s Day.
Bonavista RCMP were called around 11:00 a.m. after a passerby noticed a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle parked in Port Union.
RCMP say the driver showed signs of impairment and was found in possession of a controlled substance and contraband tobacco.
He was arrested and brought to hospital in Bonavista to get a blood sample.
Police are now awaiting the results of the blood test to see if impaired driving charges are appropriate.
