The moderate Drought conditions affecting some 2/3 of Sheboygan County for the past month or so have not been lessened by recent rain and snowfall according to NOAA’s Drought Information System.

The latest report released on New Year’s Day says that areas not in drought, the southern third, are abnormally dry.

Less than an inch of moisture fell on Sheboygan County this past week, and over the last 30 days only portions of the county achieved normal precipitation.  Long-range forecasts for the month of January now predict below normal temperatures and near-normal precipitation, conditions not likely to relieve the dryness for the time being.
