PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Gunfire erupted not far from First Friday celebrations, leaving a teen boy seriously hurt in downtown Phoenix.
According to Phoenix police, officers were in the area of 7th and Garfield streets when they heard gunfire around 10:20 p.m. Once police arrived, they found a teen boy had been shot at least once.
The teen was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. No information about possible suspect has been released at this time.
Arizona’s Family news crews witnessed police taping off the area of 7th and Roosevelt streets, near a Cheba Hut restaurant and a tire and auto shop.

Investigators are still working to piece together what led up to the gunfire. The area remains shut down as the investigation continues.
First Friday is a popular celebration filled with street vendors, live music, entertainment and food that occurs monthly. It is primarily located along Roosevelt Row, less than a mile from where the shooting occurred.
